About

Based on the Bikram method, TYQ Hot Yoga Teacher Training Programme is developed in response to demand from budding teachers and studio owners for a quality hot yoga training programme delivered in the UK. The TYQ faculty, with a wealth of industry experience amassed over nearly two decades, have addressed this need by devising a comprehensive and practical training programme, specifically designed to produce hot yoga teachers of the highest calibre. Our teacher training programme is taught by a faculty of senior certified Bikram trained teachers.

What to Expect:

Teacher Training is a unique, dynamic, powerful, and rewarding experience. You will deepen your knowledge of all that is yoga.

The program is led by experienced, senior teachers and a host of guest instructors covering topics from pranayama, to asana (posture) groups, to the history of yoga.

Every aspect of our training is inspired by our core values of Community, Integrity, Consistency, Be Outstanding, Act with Love and Compassion and Have Fun!!   We will equip you with the tools to share the joy of yoga with others and to deepen your connection to yourself.

CONTENT:

  • Practice of asanas and pranayama and kapalbhati breathing techniques.
  • Teaching practice and methods – correct alignment of asanas and correcting postures
  • The practice of the script also known as “dialogue”, which are the precise instructions for each posture.
  • Yoga Philosophy – An Introduction to the theory and practice of Hatha Yoga.
  • Business – setting up as a yoga teacher or studio owner
  • How to use your voice

Outcome:

After this course you will receive a certificate which allows you to register as a certified 200-hour yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. Mock classes will be arranged until you feel capable and confident to teach a Graduate Bikram class during our quieter studio times.

Certification:

This course is certified by Yoga Alliance Professionals.

Our Aim:

The aim of the course is to make students confident to teach a Beginner’s Bikram Hot Yoga Class.

Dates:

On most of the dates the training will be from 8:30am until 6pm, some days might start earlier or end later, depending on class times. Schedule timing may be subject to changes.

Pricing Breakdown

  • Full price: £3250 payable in instalments to be completed by first day of training.
  • Deposit: £750 required to secure space
  • Early bird discount: £2925 (10% off) the deposit is paid by the 17th July 2023

Classes: All studio classes are included in the TT. Your free membership begins and ends on the dates of the course. Following that, normal membership payments will resume.

Studio Pass: All course participants will receive a complimentary Trainee pass to the studio for the whole duration of the course. This pass allows to take unlimited number of classes in the studio.

Training Location:

Location: Classes will be held at The Yoga Quarter premises, with lectures in one of the units opposite the studio. Postcode is N7 8EG.  Trainees will also be given the opportunity to practice classes at our sister site Sadhana Yoga and Wellbeing in Clapham Junction.

Requirements:

  • You have to attend the maximum hours possible, ideally all 100% of the course. You can miss two days and still fulfil the course requirements – please get in contact if you know you are going to unable to attend some of the days.
  • Practice two hot yoga classes a day during the training
  • A willingness to learn and memorize the teaching instructions: please make sure that you spend some time before the start of the training learning the dialogue.

Assessment process:

The course is assessed continuously using faculty teacher’s feedback. Students will be constantly monitored and mentored throughout the course and given advice. Students who do not meet the course requirements will be given the opportunity to improve any areas of weakness and be encouraged to pass at a later date.

Michael Eley - Yoga Teacher

PROGRAM SENIOR TEACHERS

Sindy and Michael have been teaching yoga for exactly the same amount of time because they first met on their very first teacher training. It was a Bikram Yoga training in 2009. They’ve both been teaching full time ever since, mainly in London, but they’ve also taught all around the world, in America, Canada, Thailand, Austria, Denmark, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain & Turkey.

They have also trained in dynamic vinyasa, a 500-hour certification with Stewart Gilchrist – another training they did together. Yoga has been something that has not only influenced, but improved their lives so much, they want to continue to share it with as many people as possible. And although they share their values, and have trained and learnt so much together, you’ll find that their classes are very different.

Samantha Magee Yoga Teacher

Samantha Magee

Sam did the Bikram teacher training in 2003, Los Angeles and then returned to London to become a full-time teacher and dedicated practitioner. Since then she has gone on to train and teach many different styles of yoga including baby and children’s, pre/postnatal, vinyasa and aerial, as well as leading Hot Yoga Advanced classes for years. She has also been a judge many times for both UK and European Yoga Asana championships. She is a Reiki Master and healer. She has written a couple of yoga books and contributed to Yoga Magazine and other wellbeing publications. She continues to teach at studios in and around London and host workshops, lead Teacher Trainings and retreats.

She has been fortunate to have trained with some amazing, internationally recognised teachers including Bikram and Rajashree Choudhury, Richard Freeman, David Swenson, Dharma Mittra, Sir Edward Clarke, Max Strom, Dev Kapil, Chris Chavez, Sarah Powers and many more.

Sam’s approach to teaching and practicing is about imparting the knowledge and techniques for students to grasp the fundamental and advanced concepts of asana practice and the inspiration to embrace and enjoy the journey as it develops. She reads bodies and teaches a group experience, with personal corrections and insights, so you will find your practice adjusts and evolves quite quickly. She believes in, practices and teaches soul-based yoga.

Graduated 2011 in L.A at the 9 weeks long Bikram Teacher training and has since then been teaching full time all over Europe.

Almania has been European champion of yoga in 2015, 2017, 2019 and world champion in 2016 and 2018.

Working with the IYSF (international yoga sport federation), Almania helped with their first teacher training in 2022 and is an official coach for their athletes

Laura McDonald - Yoga Teacher

Laura McDonald

Laura stepped into a yoga studio for the first time in 2005. It was a Bikram Yoga class and it was love at first sweat.

In 2009 she took the Bikram Teacher Training in Palm Desert, California and has been teaching full time ever since.

In 2016 she also trained in Yin Yoga with Bernie Clark in Vancouver, Canada.

Yin Yoga felt like the missing piece of the puzzle and helped her to find greater balance in life.

Laura is passionate about the Bikram series and it’s therapeutic benefits for people of all ages, body types and backgrounds.

Laura has been assisting on the last 3 Hot Yoga teacher trainings for The Yoga Quarter and enjoys helping trainees to find their confidence and power.
